Times Square Before the Bright Screens
Today, Times Square is known for giant screens, flashing lights, and nonstop crowds. But years ago, it looked more like a busy old city crossing than a global entertainment landmark. The streets were filled with horse carriages, early streetcars, people in formal clothing, and tall buildings without glowing digital billboards. At first glance, the scene almost feels like a different city. The surprising part is how familiar the street layout still feels, even though everything around it has changed. This is why old city photos feel so unreal.
